Description
Halloween Match Story doesn’t just do the usual match-3 thing—it adds that unmistakable Halloween flavor that’s hard to resist if you’re into ghosts, bats, and odd little candies. Each level throws a set of goals your way: maybe collecting eyeballs, smashing through cobwebs, or lighting up jack-o'-lantern tiles. The layouts can be pretty tricky; sometimes there’s that one stubborn piece you need to clear and it just won’t budge no matter what you try. Well, almost like it’s taunting you.
There are useful boosters—hammers to smash single pieces, little bombs to blow up clusters—that make those tough moments less infuriating. Sometimes I’d save them for ages and then just end up using them all at once when things got too intense. The game definitely likes ramping up the pressure with timers or limited moves (I prefer unlimited time but here it feels fitting—makes you play a bit more on edge).
To be honest, it seems aimed at anyone who enjoys light strategy mixed with classic puzzle relaxation—the bright colors and silly art style keep things from getting too spooky for younger players too. And if you’re the type who plays for quick bursts or longer sessions both work fine because progress is steady but not rushed. Occasionally I’d wish for a little more variety between boards—one reflective thought—but as far as casual Halloween fun goes, this one pulls off its trick-and-treat vibes pretty well.

When I first started playing Halloween Match Story I wasn’t sure if the haunted theme would feel fresh or just kind of gimmicky after five minutes. Turns out—actually—it mixes in enough clever obstacles (those shifting cobwebs are oddly satisfying) that most levels stay interesting even when the match-3 core is familiar territory.
One thing though: some later boards get really tough unless you use those power-ups wisely; felt almost unfair now and then but never quite pushed me over the edge. The sounds and animations are cheerful without being distracting—which is good because some games in this genre lean a bit too hard into noisy effects.
If anything let me down slightly, it was maybe wanting bigger rewards as the stages went on… not a dealbreaker though. So yeah, while it isn’t life-changing stuff, I kept coming back whenever I had ten minutes free.
