How to Play

Click and avoid collision with the bars

Description

So, ZigZag Glide isn’t what you’d call complicated—but it does creep up on you. You get a single ball, rolling forward atop a never-ending path of sharp turns and shifting bars. Each tap sends your ball darting left or right, reacting to your commands instantly (well, nearly instantly). The thing is, there’s no real pause—mistime it once and you’re sent tumbling off the edge. For some reason, this simplicity just works; it almost becomes meditative after a while. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, you hit one of those trickier sequences with barely-there gaps and realize you were holding your breath. There’s not much by way of upgrades or characters or story—this really is pure gameplay. It’s so easy to pick up that anyone can give it a try. But going far? That takes some practice and good old stubbornness. Fast rounds mean there’s no guilt if you bail early, but don’t be surprised if ten minutes disappear before you even notice. You know how sometimes games look basic but they stick in your head? This one kind of does that.

First time I picked up ZigZag Glide I figured: okay, another endless runner thing. Ten seconds later I was actually hooked—it really did surprise me how quickly it went from relaxing to borderline stressful as the turns sped up. The control feels snappy enough but occasionally (maybe just me), the angle doesn’t go quite where I expect when I’m panicking. It’s interesting; there aren’t extra frills here so if you need graphics or power-ups to stay motivated...maybe not for you. But for zoning out after work or between classes? Pretty much perfect. Still wish there was an option to slow down the really sharp turns—that part really matters, really.
