Description
It starts pretty simply—just you, a blaster, and some questionable jumps. Next thing you know there’s alien goo everywhere, lasers flying around corners, and a string of close calls that keep your pulse running wild. Mr Autofire isn’t subtle about what it wants from you. Run right, jump over the glowing pits (or risk it), shoot just about everything that moves. That’s it on paper. In practice? Well… to be honest, even basic enemies get tricky as the screen fills with mayhem.
Levels scroll fast but not so quickly you can’t react; there’s a rhythm to the dodging and firing that feels almost relaxing—until it suddenly doesn’t. You keep collecting new weapons: some clunky but heavy-hitting, others rapid-fire but weak if you aren’t careful with upgrades. Then come the perks—double-jump here, shield there—and gradually every run starts feeling a little different from the last.
The cartoonish art style gives it an easygoing feel; kids could get into this, though some patterns require sharp reflexes adults might appreciate more. It never takes itself too seriously either—aliens look goofy until they overwhelm you for the tenth time in a row.
There’s always one more level or bit of gear to unlock when you think you’re done.

I didn’t expect Mr Autofire to grab me for long—thought it would be just another endless shooter with neon aliens everywhere. At first I was breezing through waves of weird critters without much thought (maybe too easy at the start?), but then I hit a tough patch around world three where everything suddenly clicked into this frantic dance of dodging shots and desperately seeking health drops.
Upgrading weapons made runs feel noticeably different each time—not every gun felt great though; honestly some felt like duds until they powered up further. What kept me coming back was that slight randomness mixed with skill—the game never punished me too hard for mistakes but also never let me coast on autopilot forever.
One tiny gripe: after a while, I wished for a bit more variety in enemy types earlier on. Still had fun overall. It sneaks up on you.
